Improvements and Fixes

  • Added the Ability to Create Jira issues inside Pinpoint. This is currently in Early Access as we beat it up and make sure it's solid but go ahead and check it out and let us know how we can make it better for you!
  • If a team has multiple sprints, those sprints will now be sorted first chronologically by Start Date and then alphabetically if there are identical start dates. Thank you for the request, Sander!
  • Resolved an error that would appear when viewing User Dashboard with Support User
  • Tweaked individual meeting hours query so it's more accurate.
  • Resolved a problem where a sprint belonging to multiple boards would only show up on one board.
  • Fixed a problem with duplicates in the content feed on User Dashboard
  • Created an RSS Feed for the Pinpoint Changelog so it will start appearing in Content Feeds on the User Dashboard.
  • The Issue count in Stand-up was including the Backlog's issue count so we fixed that.

Write-back ability really expands the possibilities for what we could do with Pinpoint moving forward. What do you want to see? Your feedback truly helps shape our product, please join our Slack Community here and let us know what you think!

What a week! Thank you so much to everybody involved in the launch and a warm welcome to all of our new users. Here are some of the things we have been up to since we launched earlier this week:

Improvements and Fixes

  • Added "Meeting Hours" column to Org > Analyze > People so you can now see a breakdown of hours at the individual level as well as the team total. Thanks for the request, E.J.!
  • Fixed Pinpoint Profile URLs to stop caring about case sensitivity after it was reported by a new member of the slack community. Thank you, Nanda (nice username grab)!
  • Enabled Issue Assignees to be changed in Pinpoint (requires write-access).
  • Fixed an issue that prevented the linkage of personal source system accounts in some scenarios.
  • Resolved an issue that could cause the Organization > Team > Agile tab to load without data.
  • Removed unassigned issues from the "Right Now" section on the User Dashboard as a user would be being prompted to reach out to... nobody.
  • Improved the "Add" functionality in The Daily and notebooks.
  • Resolved a bug where Team Dashboard would show -- meetings.

It's release day! Today we're launching an entirely new developer experience within Pinpoint with a slew of new features designed and built for engineers, by engineers. In addition, we're now scheduling migrations for existing accounts over to our new Agent to massively enhance the Pinpoint experience. We will be in touch but you can also schedule yours here!

User Dashboard & Recommended Content

The User Dashboard is the new home base for individual contributors within Pinpoint. It gives you an automatic, streamlined view of what you’re working on today and tomorrow (including outstanding issues and PRs), right when you log in so you know what to work on that day. It’s uniquely attuned to your individual tasks and needs.

The Dashboard will also show you personalized Recommended Content. This is an AI-driven feed that curates content from blogs, podcasts, events and other media based on what you are currently working on and your interests.

Andrew walks us through the User Dashboard in this video:

Pinpoint Profile

It was released to the public last week but today is the official launch of the Pinpoint Profile which is purpose-built for engineering and displays historical work and career activity across your projects and companies, highlighting your expertise and elevating your personal brand. Click through Keegan's profile below. He built it!

Keegan himself talks more about the Pinpoint Profile here:

The Daily

The Daily is moving from Early Access into full release! Too often in traditional stand-ups information is missed, lost in translation, or just forgotten. The Daily view improves your typical stand-up ceremony by giving more context around work in progress to help team members stay caught up and better prioritize their day while tracking daily team sentiment.

Agent Upgrades

Our widely anticipated Agent upgrades are now rolling out! While these are primarily changes on the backend, the improvement to your Pinpoint experience will be significant with the following enhancements:

  • Faster and more intuitive onboard workflows.
  • Integrations are set at the Organization level with exclusion lists rather than set per team (massively speeds setup and eliminates repo/project list maintenance).
  • True Agile board support - you will see your board’s statuses and issue ordering just like it is in your source system with the ability to assign your boards to Pinpoint teams.
  • Write-back ability to source systems. You can spend even less time in Jira now you’re able to write-back from Pinpoint with two-way communication.
  • Two-way communication is instant. No more waiting for updates to process and reflect in Pinpoint!

With Pinpoint Profiles out in the wild and The Daily being put through its paces in Early Access, we're starting to schedule migrations for existing Users over to our new Agent setup (referred to internally as Agent 4.0). This will be a game-changer, keep an eye out for scheduling requests!

In the meantime, we're still working on making our application better every day!

The Daily Updates (Early Access)

  • Markdown support!
  • New block type for Pull Requests.
  • Implemented Keyboard shortcuts for more intuitive UX.
  • Handled separating mouse and keyboard highlighting of blocks.
  • Set a "locked" state for blocks so that two users cannot edit the same block at the same time.
  • Allowed clicking of Issue blocks without editing.
  • Added Annotations on block hover.
  • Resolved some horizontal spacing issues.
  • Fixed bulleted lists.

Improvements and Fixes

  • Jira updated their API which caused some Sprint data to go missing from the App. We jumped right on it and got everything back to normal.
  • Added Username field to Pinpoint Profile so you didn't have to go to another tab to set your Username.
  • Fixed Stand-Up person filter to use Assignee rather than Contributing User.
  • Fixed an issue that required a browser refresh to undo a Sprint planning Auto-Pack.
  • Fixed an issue with Traceability showing as above 100% due to duplications in the query - thank you to E.J. at Mark43 for pointing that one out!
  • Resolved an issue where occasionally Epic Stars were unclickable, preventing you from adding them to your favorites.
  • Combined issue and Pull Request text data in our entity recommendation engine to help with the recommendation of Pull Requests.
  • Resolved an issue where an Owner could not rename their Workspace.
  • Optimized our Office365 Calendar integration so it works more like the GSuite integration.
